Some Users had existing Events that used Custom Questions to manage Custom Data. Custom Questions continue to be accessible in both 1.0 and 2.0.

It should be noted there are currently several concepts and methodology of Custom Data that we plan on unifying into a singular Feature in the future. In the meantime, you have several options at your disposal.
