Our Scoring 2.0 engine is the heart of our Microsite Results experience. For real-time results to feel truly live, new scoring data must be processed, published, and displayed as quickly as possible.
As part of our continued investment in real-time results, we have made several significant performance improvements that help Timers deliver a faster and more responsive results experience.
What was Changed?
Cached Event Assets
Event metadata and image assets are now delivered through a content delivery network, or CDN. This allows Microsite pages and their supporting assets to load more quickly
Optimized Throughput
The faster we can process incoming data, the more accurately Microsite Results can reflect the current state of an Event.
We made several improvements throughout the scoring process:
- Automatic payload deduplication reduces the amount of duplicate data the scoring engine needs to process
- Database optimizations allow scoring changes to be committed more quickly
- Intelligent data batching processes incoming updates more efficiently
- Latest-interval prioritization gives the most recent Race activity priority, helping current results appear sooner
What do I need to do in order to take advantage?
Nothing. These improvements are automatic and do not require any configuration changes.
Events with the following characteristics will see the greatest impact:
- Large numbers of Athletes
- Many Intervals
- Many Divisions
However, all Events will benefit from these enhancements.
