Age Reference Dates Just Got Easier
We’re continuing to make it faster and easier to manage Races in CT Live. One historically painful area has been managing Age Reference Dates.
About Age Reference Dates
Age Reference Dates determine an Athlete’s age based on their Date of Birth.
Using DOB is the most accurate way to determine an Athlete’s age, but CT Live still needs to know which date to use when calculating that age.
Historically, Age Reference Dates required some extra attention. If you changed a Race Date, you also needed to make sure the Age Reference Date was updated appropriately. If the two became out of sync, it could cause significant Age Group issues.
What’s New?
You now have three Age Reference Date options:
- Race Day – By far the most common option and now the default.
- End of Year – Commonly used for Multisport Events.
- Custom – Wild mode!
We’ve also added a preview of the actual date being used, so you can easily confirm how Athlete ages will be calculated.
What Happens When You Clone a Race?
Currently, when a Race is cloned, its Age Reference Date is reset to Race Day. We’ll be improving this soon so that cloned Races can retain an End of Year selection when applicable.
