Introduction
When you plug a ChronoCast into a PC, the drivers should download automatically if the PC is connected to the internet. If you don't see a message similar to the one below on your computer, the drivers may not have been installed. Installing the driver manually can be done one of two ways.
Method 1
- Open Control Panel and click Hardare and Sound, then Device Manager.
- In the list of devices, you should see one of both of the highlighted entries in the image below. You may have to expand the sections to see them. (You may see COM3 or COM4)
- One or both may have a small yellow triangle next to it. Right-click on either of the entries and click Update Driver Software.
- In the window that appears, click Search automatically for updated driver software
- You'll see a status bar as Windows searches for the appropriate driver. The process should finish with a message that says Windows has successfully updated your driver software
- Click Close on the message window and open ChronoSync. You should be able to proceed as normal now.
Method 2
If Windows isn't able to find the appropriate driver automatically, we've included .zip files containing the appropriate Firmware in the downloads section at the end of this article. Follow the instructions below to install the drivers.
- Download the appropriate file from the downloads below (32 or 64-bit) and unzip it in a place that's easy to find such as your desktop.
- In the window that appears, select Browse my computer for driver software
- Locate the unzipped folder and select it, then click Next
- The drivers should load quickly and you should see Windows has successfully updated your driver software
- Click Close on the message window and open ChronoSync. You should be able to proceed as normal now.
