Introduction
A situation sometimes emerges when the Event Director has some pressure from without or extra some creative energy and decides to make some changes to a race the morning of. Other times, athletes have intrusive thoughts, and they must also be dealt with on the spot by the timer with much aplomb. Here are some examples.
Course Length Adjusted
If part or all of the course length gets changed, you will need to ensure CT Live reflects that in the Race Properties from the Event Dashboard. From there, go to Scoring > Course and make adjustments to the split points' distances as necessary.
Finally, adjust Min/Max Accepted Time for the Timing Points, and Interval Duration for your MID's.

Athlete Race Change
If there are athletes that want to run a different race than they signed up for, there are two ways you can adjust:
- Individual changes: If only a few athletes need to be changed, follow the steps in this article:
How to Change an Athlete's Race or Registration Choice
- Mass changes via Athlete Import: For making changes to many athletes, it is often faster to use a spreadsheet. Follow the steps in this article to make mass changes:

"Run any race you want..." they said
This situation often involves some amount of the honor system, but there are some steps you can take to mitigate extra work on race day:
- Have a Timing Point on one course that is not on the others. This way you can verify if an athlete did run that distance by pulling up their data in CT Live and checking to see if they have reads on that timing point. If not, the honor system may have failed.
- Start the races at different times of day. This can help isolate timing data for you to be able to see more clearly which athletes were active on the course and when.
- Make an announcement. Let athletes know to come report to the timing booth if they ran any course other than the one they registered for.

Bib Swap
If athletes pin on the wrong bib, it will inevitably cause confusion. To determine and confirm if there's a problem or not, it's always handy to have a camera (photo or video) setup at the finish. Then you can find out when the person claimed to have finished, locate that time of day on the camera, and see what bib numbers crossed at that time.
Next, you'll need to fix it. If two athletes swapped bibs, follow the steps in this article:
How to Swap Two Athletes Bibs and Tags
Otherwise, just pull up the athlete and type in the correct bib and tag in their Race tab in CT Live.
