Introduction
Custom Questions are now divided into two types: Product and Survey.
This guide will walk you through creating Product type questions, the options for each type, and how to set inventory levels where applicable. Inventory Controls are only available for certain types of questions, and certain types of answers. These are:
- Yes/No
- Radio Group
- Select Menu
If you selected Single Price > Multi Option as the question type, you will be able to specify inventory numbers for each individual selection option for Radio Group or Select Menu answer types. (See below)
Remember to keep similar questions sorted into specific Slides.
Product Properties
- Once you have selected the + Product Question button on the Registration > Custom Questions tab, you must enter the Product Question text that the Athletes will see as they register. The question text is limited to 250 characters.
Example: Would you like to purchase spaghetti tickets? If so, how many? - Next, select the Product Type you will be using for the question. There are four different types of Product Question. These are:
Single Price - Single Option - this type is useful for Opt-in services such as insurance or VIP passes.
Single Price - Multi Option - this type is useful for products such as T-Shirts or other products where the price is the same regardless of the item.
Single Price - Multi Selection - this type is useful for things such as shuttle or meal tickets.
Multi Price - Multi Option - this type is useful for things like training programs ($30 for 1 day, $50 for 2, $70 for 3, etc) - After selecting the Product Type, select the Answer Format you would like to use. Only some Answer Types may be used with each Product Type. The Answer Types are listed below with any necessary description.
Single Checkbox - a single check box that a registrant can check to opt-in to something. (Single Price - Single Option)
Yes/No - two Radio style buttons with user-determined 'Yes' and 'No' labels. (Single Price - Single Option)
Number - a text field will appear where and entrant can enter a whole-value number that lies between a user-defined range of acceptable numbers.
Decimal - a dollar amount between a user-defined range of acceptable amounts.
Radio Group - an open list of items from which a registrant may select only one.
Select Menu - a drop-down style list from which registrants may select only one option. - Next, choose the Question Text Position relative to the answer option(s)
- You may enter a Product Description to provide more information about the product or service you are offering. This field is limited to 1000 characters.
- You may choose to Require a Response to the question. Do not turn this option on unless you are requiring an opt-in or unless you are providing a No/None/Neither option to select from.
- Next, define a Report Label. The Report Label is used to identify data in Reports. It is not displayed in the registration form. This label must be unique within this event and contain only letters, numbers, and spaces.
- If you are uploading an image to display with the Question (such as a T-Shirt image), you can click Select File, locate and select the file on your computer, then click Upload to finalize the image.
- If you uploaded an Image, select the Image Positioning in relationship to the question and answer text.
- Finally, click Save & Next
Product Details
The Product Details section will look different depending on the Answer Format you selected. Click the link for the type you selected to jump to that section below. Note that Product Names are limited to 200 characters.
A Note on VAT Tax
If your event takes place the EU, you will be required to supply a Net Price, VAT Tax Rate Percentage, and Gross Price for each Question unless the organizing company is VAT exempt. VAT tax will be applied to all Product revenue at the designated percentage and reflected in the pricing, receipts, and invoices shown to athletes. Non-VAT countries will not be required to enter a Tax Rate.

The Single Checkbox Product Details page looks like this:
- Specify a Checked Value to store in the database when the checkbox is checked. When an Athlete checks the box in the form, the price specified in the Product Price field below will be applied to their total.
- Next, enter a Product ID (like a SKU). This identifier will be shown in athlete registration receipts and product reports. You may use letters, numbers and dashes only.
- Set a Product Name. This will appear in Athlete Registration Receipts and product reports.
- Finally, set the Product Price. This is usually positive, but can be negative. The price entered will be applied in the currency you selected in the Event Properties.
- Check the Hide Price button if you would like to hide the product price until checkout.
- Click Save & Close to finalize the Question.
The Yes/No Product Details page looks like this:
- Select an Option Layout pattern for the Yes and No options.
- Specify a Yes Label and No Label to display on the Registration Form and in Reports. When an Athlete checks the Yes option in the form, the price specified in the Product Price field below will be applied to their total.
- Enter the Total Inventory that is available for the Product.
Entering Inventory numbers is optional. However, if you have a finite amount of the product to offer, we suggest entering a value so that the product will become unavailable once the maximum had been reached. - Next, enter a Product ID (like a SKU). This identifier will be shown in athlete registration receipts and product reports. You may use letters, numbers and dashes only.
- Set a Product Name. This will appear in Athlete Registration Receipts and product reports.
- Set the Product Price. This is usually positive, but can be negative. The price entered will be applied in the currency you selected in the Event Properties.
- Check the Hide Price button if you would like to hide the product price until checkout.
- Click Save & Close to finalize the Question.
The Number Product Details page looks like this:
- Specify a Min Value and Max Value that Athletes may enter when answering the question. The price specified in the Product Price field below, multiplied by the number entered will be applied to their total.
- Next, enter a Product ID (like a SKU). This identifier will be shown in athlete registration receipts and product reports. You may use letters, numbers and dashes only.
- Set a Product Name. This will appear in Athlete Registration Receipts and product reports.
- Finally, set the Product Price. This is usually positive, but can be negative. The price entered will be applied in the currency you selected in the Event Properties.
- Click Save & Close to finalize the Question.
The Decimal Product Details page looks like this:
- Specify a Min Amount and Max Amount that Athletes may enter when answering the question. The amount entered will be applied in the currency you selected in the Event Properties.
- Define the Precision that the number must adhere to. If you would like to allow Athletes to enter an amount to the cent, set the Precision at 2. For whole-dollar amounts, set it at 0.
- Next, enter a Product ID (like a SKU). This identifier will be shown in athlete registration receipts and product reports. You may use letters, numbers and dashes only.
- Set a Product Name. This will appear in Athlete Registration Receipts and product reports.
- Click Save & Close to finalize the Question.
The Radio Group Product Details page looks like this:
- Select an Option Layout pattern for the radio options.
- Specify a Option Name and a Reporting ID for each Radio Option that will be displayed in the registration form. The Name is the text that will display next to the option in the form, and the ID is what will be stored in the database.
- Next, define inventory levels for each product (optional). Once the inventory limit has been reached, the option will no longer be available.
- If you selected, Single Price > Multi Option, enter the amount of Inventory that is available for the Product.
- Enter the Total Inventory that is available for the Product.

The Select Menu Details page looks like this:
- You can specify a Menu Prompt that will appear above the Menu that offers Athletes specific instructions or additional information.
- Specify a Option Name and a Reporting ID for each Radio Option that will be displayed in the registration form. The Name is the text that will display next to the option in the form, and the ID is what will be stored in the database.
- Next, define inventory levels for each product (optional). Once the inventory limit has been reached, the option will no longer be available.
- If you selected, Single Price > Multi Option, enter the amount of Inventory that is available for the Product.
- Enter the Total Inventory that is available for the Product.
- Entering Total Inventory numbers is optional, especially if defining inventory levels for the individual options.

Once completed, the Question will appear within the Slide in a similar way to what is shown below. You can use the Inventory (Sold/Total) field to keep track of how quickly inventory is being sold.
