Update the Kairos 4 Controller

These instructions detail how to update you Kairos 4 controller as well as the parameters required for an update. 

Prepare the Upgrade File

1. Navigate to the Email that was sent out with the purchase of your Kairos 4. With that email there is a link to a drive folder that contains the latest Kairos Firmware and Software. 
2. Download and extract the file contents from that drive folder to a thumb drive. 
3. Thumb drive should contain a folder called 'upgrades' with three files in it in order to process correctly:
   reader_os_X.X.X.upgx
   reader_cap_X.X.X.X.upg
   kairos_fw_X.X.X.bin
   Make note of these versions.
4. Safely remove the thumb drive from your computer

Upgrade Controller

1. Insert the prepared thumb drive into the USB A port on the back of your powered Kairos 4 or boot the controller with the prepared thumb drive and follow the prompts. If there is an issue with a file missing or misnamed it will produce an error titled "Upgrade Incomplete, some files missing." 
2. Remove the thumb drive when prompted to reboot.

3. Verify the version numbers within the upgrades folder match what is now installed on the Kairos 4 by navigating to Menu > View > Status, and going a page down. Check the following:
   Reader OS Version
   Reader App(cap) Version
   Firmware Version
