Introduction
There are six different methods that you may use to time sync your Kairos 4 controllers:
Broadcast from another controller
And like other Chronotrack controllers, you may also sync the time to other controllers from a Kairos 4 controller using a Broadcast.
For NTP or GPS time syncs, the time zone must first be set correctly on the controller through the Kairos app
Sync from App
NTP and GPS time can also be set from the Kairos 4 controller directly. From the controller, choose Menu (≡) - Time and choose the desired method.
NTP (internet)
To sync using NTP time, your Kairos must be connected to the internet.
From the Kairos app, choose Menu > Time > Internet.
The app will display a notification of success, or of failure (usually because there is no internet connection):
In either case, check the display on your Kairos 4 controller to verify the time was set. There will be a confirmation message on the controller if successful, with the time stamp included in the message.
GPS
To sync using GPS time, your Kairos 4 controller must be outdoors.
From the Kairos app, choose Menu > Time > GPS.
The app will display a notification of success or of failure. If it fails, check to ensure the area is uncovered from trees, buildings, etc.
In either case, check the display on your Kairos 4 controller to verify the time was set. There will be a confirmation message on the controller if successful, with the time stamp included in the message.
Manual
To perform a manual time sync, choose Menu > Time > Manual.
Set the time and date (12/24 hour time settings will be reflected from your Time Format choice in the app) and choose Save. You will see a success notification.
Check the display on your Kairos 4 controller to verify the time was set. There will be a confirmation message on the controller if successful, with the time stamp included in the message.
Other Time Sync Methods
ChronoSync
To sync with your ChronoSync, plug the ChronoSync into the controller and wait for it to be recognized. The question will display: "Sync time with external ChronoSync?"
Choose Yes.
Stand by for a short time while the time sync goes through, and then it will display "Time set" and the time will be displayed. Press either button to confirm and return to the main screen.
Middleware
To sync using middleware, plug your Kairos 4 controller into your computer with an ethernet cable, and follow these steps, depending on what middleware you are using:
Fusion:
- Open Fusion
- Click the clock icon to access the Time menu.
- Choose SYNC ALL.
Broadcast from another controller
To receive time from another controller, connect to that controller and then broadcast the time from the connected controller. This connection can be via ethernet cable, or over wi-fi if the controllers are on the same network.
Broadcast Sync to Other Controllers
This can be done through the app or through the controller menu.
On the Kairos app, choose Menu > Time > Broadcast to initiate a broadcast to all connected controllers.
On the Kairos 4 controller, choose Menu (≡) > Time > Broadcast to initiate a broadcast to all connected controllers.
