Introduction
If you are using third-party registration software, a variety of situations may require the use of the Custom import field when there is important data you must import, but there is no specific matching value in CT Live. Examples of this are Elite athlete status data, wave assignments, Wheelchair or Pushrim status, Clydesdale/Athena status, etc. In most cases, Custom data is used to map athletes or teams to Brackets or Waves.
This guide will briefly show you how to import Custom data.
Define Columns
As with any Athlete Import any athlete data must be imported with an External ID number. If you have multiple columns to map to Custom value, make sure you clearly identify each column with a unique name.
In the example file below, I am importing columns that contain data about Athletes' status as Elites and Wheelchair information.
Import
In the mapping part of the import process, click the dropdown next to the Custom field(s) to be imported and select the Custom value.
WARNING: You should only select Custom when importing columns that have not previously been imported to the Custom value. Any Custom data previously imported will be selectable as its own mapping value at the bottom of the selection list.
Once we complete the import, the custom data will be viewable in reports and on the athletes' Registration Info tabs and can be used to map athletes with specific answers to Custom Brackets and Waves.
Now that you've imported data to the Custom column, you will see the name of the custom column in your file is selectable as its own value for future uploads. If you need to import additional Custom information for columns you've already mapped during previous uploads, do NOT select Custom again. Scroll down to the bottom of the mapping categories to see the previously uploaded Custom values.
