Introduction
If you're in the middle of an event or if a race has just finished and you're not getting any results in CT Live or Athlinks, here are some tips for you.
No Data
First you will want to check if the CT Live event is receiving data from your controllers/middleware. To check this, go to Scoring > Console in your CT Live event, and launch the console of one of the active races. You should see numbers tallying up in your Timing Devices if they are receiving data. If no data is making it to CT Live, your timing devices will look like this:
If yours has data, skip to the Data is Present troubleshooting steps. If yours is lacking data as shown above, continue on in the following troubleshooting steps.
Hardware
First you will need to check your hardware to ensure the data is being picked up at the source and passed along to your middleware.
- Cables securely fastened
- Readers powered on (on Pro2's)
- Controllers connected to the server
Once you have determined that these are good to go, if there is still no data going through to CT Live, you will need to check your streams.
Streams
If your hardware is setup correctly, check for errors in your middleware next. Follow the steps in this knowledge base article to resolve.
Next, check the streams output destination to ensure it's going to CT Live for scoring:
Next, check for any Filters and Adjustments on the stream that might be preventing tag reads from streaming successfully.
Simple Client Filters and Adjustments
Stream Manager Filters and Adjustments
Fusion Filters and Adjustments
Finally, ensure you are streaming the correct tag type (this should typically be "Normal" tag type).
If you are seeing data in the Console, the next step is to find out why it's not valid. The fastest and easiest way to do this is to look up an athlete that you know has finished in the Athletes tab in CT Live.
Checking an Example Athlete
Choose the Timing sub-tab in that athlete's profile to see specifics about their tag reads.
- If the athlete has no tag data:
- Ensure the correct bib is assigned
- Ensure that athlete did run with the correct bib (and they didn't swap with someone else)
- Rescore the race.
- Navigate to the Event Dashboard in CT Live
- Click the race in question to open the race properties window
- Adjust the Actual Start Time by .001 second (this will cause CT Live to rescore the race, but will not change any results, as CT Live does not score down to a thousandth of a second)
- Choose Save & Close
- If the athlete has tag data, but it is all invalid, see this knowledge base article to determine the cause and resolve it.
Other Options
If these steps have thus far presented no solution, here are a few more things to try:
- Recalculate the Timing Devices
- In CT Live, choose Scoring > Course
- Click a Timing Device to expand, and then click the expanded area to edit it
- Check the Recalculate Results box
- Choose Save & Close
- Ensure the race is set to generate results
- Navigate to the Event Dashboard in CT Live
- Click the race in question to open the race properties window
- Choose Results Generation On
- Stream to new Timing Devices
- Navigate to Scoring > Course
- Click "+ Timing Device" to create a new Timing Device
- Name the new device whatever you want (we recommend a close variation of your existing Timing Devices for ease of remembering)
- Pause, rewind, and rename your stream to be directed to this new Timing Device
- Play the stream
